Summarizing a Summer of Socks OR A Little Alliteration As We Await Autumn

The Summer Sock Saga all started with Sockapalooza. As you may have already read, I had quite a time with the socks I knit for Allison in Ottawa, but in addition to the German Stockings, I've made three other pair of socks this summer and have been the recipient of a lovely pair from Rochelle.

First the pair of socks from Rochelle. Sockapalooza is such a fun exchange, this is only the second time I've participated and I've received yet another wonderful pair of socks. Summer is slowly fading and these are a treat for keeping my feet warm. They fit like a charm and the colours and detailing of the pattern are so beautiful. Thank you Rochelle, for these socks and for being such a kind person. Your words of support meant so much.

Another shot of the patterning.

Next on the summer sock list, the Harry Potter socks made for a young co-worker. A quick, plain old stocking stitch. Yarn from Bright Dyes.

Third on the list, the Mermaid socks in Tofutsie yarn for #4's good friend 'D'. I finally gave them to her last night as the girls were getting ready to go to a party. I tried to tell her she should wear them there, because nothing says "Hey, I'm cool!" like a pair of homemade socks. I don't know why, but they didn't believe me.

An finally, another quick stocking stitch sock. These are for #5 to wear as she and I 'run' in the CIBC Run for the Cure next Sunday. Yarn - Lorna's Laces Flamingo colourway. I love these stocking stitch socks. They make driving in rush hour tolerable. I don't get fussed about hitting all the red lights if I can pick up and knit a few stitches while I sit in traffic.

Maybe it's time to put the sock patterns away for awhile and move onto something else, but I'm not sure what. Although being that I've signed up again for Sock Wars, there's guaranteed to be at least one pair of socks knit in October.

It's been good to keep busy with work and such. Knitting, when I have the energy helps me to relax.

I hope you are all enjoying the changes that come with the summer/fall transition. Have a nice weekend.
